2026 Breakout Sessions
More Than My File
Join us for a guided session based on The Moth: Storytelling workshop. Participants will reflect on their lived experiences that have shaped and inspired who they are. While in an environment that offers a safe space to speak, listen and connect over real moments. No preparation needed, just bring your voice and your story.
Building My Career: Where Do I Fit In?
Are you interested in exploring different career pathways that fit your interests and skills? Join us for an interactive career assessment and exploration activity with a scavenger hunt. By the end of this session, participants will:
- Be able to identify their workforce skills,
- Have 2 careers they are interested in and well suited for
Indiana Foster Youth Alliance: We Are the Change
Join IFYA leaders to learn more about IFYA, the official board that advises DCS (and plans this conference!). How it empowers young people to use their voices, access resources and opportunities, and make change within the foster care system.
Building the Future with Our Voices
In this interactive session, participants will transform their thoughts and experiences into meaningful artwork. Through guided conversations centered on foster care, attendees will explore their personal stories and express them creatively. This engaging activity highlights the power of individual voices, showing how sharing and reflecting on these experiences can inspire connection, healing, and a stronger path forward.
Dreams in Motion: Parenting, Purpose & Possibility
This breakout session explores the interconnected challenges and opportunities young people face while parenting and trying to pursue personal goals. Through shared experiences and supportive dialogue, the session aims to equip young people with tools and confidence to balance responsibilities, achieve their goals, and create positive outcomes for themselves and their families.
U Belong: Postsecondary Support for Young People in Foster Care
A panel of higher education professionals share their experience supporting young people with lived experience in college, highlighting programs and services at the federal, state and institutional level. Moderated by a recent college graduate. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the panel questions.
