Workforce Readiness
Works Wonders®
The Works Wonders® Workforce Readiness program provides job readiness skill building for teens and young adults (ages 18-25) who have experienced foster care. Through the program, young professionals are supported in discovering and pursuing career pathways for meaningful employment.
Works Wonders involves a rigorous combination of a 16-hour job readiness skill-building class, followed by six career coaching appointments for each participant to receive personalized support in the pursuit of their career goals.
The program supports individuals who need:
- Help exploring career options and/or finding a job
- Training on the skills needed to get and maintain a job
- A career coach to help practice skills and explore careers
- Potential connections with employers offering paid work experiences or internships in career fields of interest
- Access to job training, certification, or college programs
Eligibility:
- Young adults between the ages of 18-25 who have spent at least one day in foster care on or after their 14th birthday
- Have a desire to explore career pathways and attain employment
- Live or attend school in one of the following Indiana counties: Marion, Johnson, Morgan, Shelby, Hancock, Madison, Hamilton, Boone or Hendricks counties
The Works Wonders® Process
- Complete a 16-hour workshop and earn a completion stipend.
- Receive career coaching, build your resume, and create a career portfolio.
- Get connected to employers through internships, job shadows, apprenticeships, direct placement into a career, and other career-building activities.
