Works Wonders®Indiana Workforce Intern Opportunity


The primary function of the Workforce Intern is to support and advise Foster Success in their workforce efforts. The Workforce Intern will play an integral role in the second phase of the Lilly Enhancing Opportunity Initiative grant process by reviewing and providing input on the final grant proposal in addition to participating in the Works Wonders® Indiana technical assistance training. Foster Success will look to the Workforce Intern for their expert opinion and advice to help create a workforce program tailored for older foster youth in Indiana. The Workforce Intern reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives.

Length of Commitment:

  • December 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021

Position Type:

  • 15 hours per month 

Compensation:

  • $150 monthly stipend via check( approx. 15 hours/month)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Director of Strategic Initiatives and COO on best ways to support program participants 
  • Research and identify barriers for youth who have experienced foster care engaging in workforce
  • Write, review, and edit components of grant proposal
  • Organize small workforce focus group to review the final proposal 
  • Research and elevate the challenges in transitioning to the world of work from foster care
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor and any other partners as required
  • Respect and follow Foster Success’ confidentiality rules and expectations

Qualifications:

  • Has engaged with Foster Success programing (Preferred)
  • Must live in Marion County
  • 18+ years or older
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Critical thinking and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with a team
  • Effective and consistent communicator 

Background Check: 

Employment with Foster Success is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all Indiana Department of Child Services’ contractually required background checks.
