Leona Gray resides in Northwest Indiana and is an agent for positive change.
For nearly eight years, Leona has worked at Foster Success as an ETV Specialist. She has also been instrumental with initiating conversations that led to the implementation of Educational Summits, Education Resource Fairs and the first statewide campus-based bridge program for Indiana foster youth at Purdue University Northwest. Not only did she assist with the design, and implementation of the campus-based bridge program, Leona also served as the Program Coordinator. The innovative summer bridge approach was recognized by The Annie E. Casey Foundation.
At the conclusion of the bridge program, Indiana Connected by 25(now Foster Success) was invited to join Purdue Northwest (PNW) University, Jobs for the Future and Annie E. Casey Foundation with hosting a design studio experience at the campus of PNW. Leona was selected to serve on the design studio planning committee. The two-day design studio event brought representatives from various organizations across the United States whose sites were building programming to improve post secondary outcomes for transition age youth. While the design studio presented an unique opportunity for the ETV staff and summer bridge students to discuss the innovative summer bridge model, foster youth were able to give their perspective on how effective the program was for them.
In addition to volunteering as a mentor, Leona enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling and supporting various youth organizations, STEM, and faith-based events.
