Emergency Assistance Fund for foster youth

The Foster Success Emergency Assistance Fund was created to provide monetary assistance to Indiana teens and young adults with short-term, unforeseen financial hardship or immediate expense that may impact their livelihood.

Eligibility

To be eligible, teens and young adults must:

  • Be between ages 14-26
  • Must have spent at least 1 day in the Indiana foster care system on or after your 14th birthday
  • Must have a valid PayPal account set-up before applying for the $50 cash assistance.

Guidelines and Processes

$50 Request

(i.e., groceries, transportation cost, hygiene products, etc.)

  • Submit an application
  • The application will be reviewed and confirmation of DCS involvement will take place
  • Application status will be notified by email with a Pending, Denial, or Approved explanation
  • Once approved, funds will be sent via PayPal to the email listed in the application

$50+ Request

(i.e., living cost, unexpected medical expenses, car repairs, family/personal emergencies, theft, etc.)

  • Submit an application
  • Application and all vital documents will be reviewed and confirmation of DCS involvement will take place
  • Application status will be notified by email with a Pending, Denial, or Approved explanation
  • Once approved, funds will be sent to the third-party vendor, not the youth.

Notes on fund requests

  • Applications will be reviewed during normal business hours. Please allow up to two business days for an email response explaining the status of your application.
  • Funds are paid based on the type of request and urgency of the hardship
  • Funds approved for requests over $50 are generally between $100-$500.
  • Credit card debt and other non-emergent matters may not be considered
